Day 1Sat 23 Jan – Arrive in Colombo, Drive to Mirissa
- Land at Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo, and meet your trip captain and the group
- Scenic coastal drive south to Mirissa, with ocean views along the way
- Check in and spend the evening by the beach
Day 2Sun 24 Jan – Bentota River Safari & Galle Fort
- Visit a sea-turtle hatchery on the south coast
- Madu River boat safari through the mangroves and little islands
- Walk the ramparts and lanes of Galle Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
- Back to Mirissa for sunset
Day 3Mon 25 Jan – Mirissa to Ella via Udawalawe
- Drive inland as the coast turns into hills and tea country
- Pass through the Udawalawe area on the way
- Arrive in Ella, surrounded by tea plantations and misty peaks
Day 4Tue 26 Jan – Explore Ella: Nine Arches & Little Adam's Peak
- Tuk-tuk to the Nine Arches Bridge to watch the train cross the jungle viaduct
- Sunrise-friendly hike up Little Adam's Peak for views over the valley
- Afternoon at leisure – Ravana Falls, the Ravana Pool Club or Ella's cafés and viewpoints
- Republic Day abroad – celebrate it with the group in the hills
Day 5Wed 27 Jan – Hill-Country Train, Nuwara Eliya & Kandy
- Ride the famous blue hill-country train from Ella to Ambewela (if not available, Ella to Badulla, subject to availability)
- Drive on to Nuwara Eliya – Seetha Amman Temple and Gregory Lake
- Tea factory and plantation tour – see how Ceylon tea is made
- Continue to Kandy for the night
Day 6Thu 28 Jan – Pinnawala, Dambulla Cave Temple & Sigiriya
- Visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage
- See the murals and Buddha statues of the Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
- Reach Sigiriya by evening
Day 7Fri 29 Jan – Climb Sigiriya Rock, Colombo City Tour
- Early climb of Sigiriya Rock Fortress, the 5th-century 'Lion Rock' (UNESCO)
- Drive to Colombo
- City tour – temples, landmarks and shopping streets
Day 8Sat 30 Jan – Fly Home
- Breakfast and check out
- Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport for your flight home

- Carry a passport valid for at least 6 months, a return ticket and your hotel confirmations
- January is a great time for the south coast and Sigiriya – warm, mostly dry days
- The hill-country train is popular; seats are subject to availability
- Sigiriya is a steep climb of about 1,200 steps – go at your own pace
- Dress modestly at temples – shoulders and knees covered, shoes off

Cancellation policy
- Cancel in writing, by email or WhatsApp to our team.
- Your booking amount (advance) is non-refundable and non-transferable once paid.
- 30 days or less before departure: 100% of the trip cost is charged, or the actual vendor charges if higher.
- No cash refunds. Where money can be recovered you get a credit note, valid 12 months on a new Desh Videsh trip, after deducting flights, visas and vendor charges.
- Visa fees, hotel deposits, event tickets and add-ons are non-refundable. Charges apply whatever the reason, including visa rejection or a no-show.
- Want to change dates instead? One free reschedule up to 45 days before departure; 30–44 days: actual vendor costs; 29 days or less: treated as a cancellation.
- Group trips need at least 6 travellers. If a batch doesn’t fill, we offer another date, another trip or a credit note.
